You'll never find Thorsten Kaye (Ian, Port Charles) cruising around town in this year's "in" car. When it comes to wheels, he much prefers classics.

"I love taking old things and trying to bring them back to life," he muses. "I'm working on a '59 Corvette. It's one of the greatest looking cars ever made. I'm rebuilding it, restoring it."

When he's finished, Kaye plans to take it on the road. "Chicks love that!" he smiles. Is that what sparked this hobby? "I think so," he grins, adding that he recently started mixing business with pleasure. "My friend Scott and I have a body shop in L.A. It's called R&S Customs. Right now, we've got a couple of Corvettes in there, a '54 Chevy, and '36 ambulance that Scott is restoring."

Scott is clearly the brains of the operation. "He is amazing; he does great work," praises Kaye, whose participation is less grease monkey and more greasing palms. "I'm the money [man]," Kaye says with a laugh. "But I do whatever I can."

Which includes being practical when he has to be. "I do own a new car because I have to be at work at 5:30 in the morning," he admits. "And I have to drive something that's going to get me there!"
