A partial list of charities that Thorsten has given back to includes the 2011 North American International Auto Show Charity Preview, Soap Nation iParticipate, the National Prostate Cancer Coalition, First Book, Give Kids The World, Leukemia Society of America, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the September 11th Fund, Daytime Unites, Special Wishes, Inc., the March Against Drugs, the Rainbow Foundation, POZ Love Out Loud, autism charities, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the American Diabetes Assocation, the Second Stage Theater, and the WB Yeats Society of NY; there are many, many more.

In addition to the numerous personal appearances he has made in support of charitable organizations, Thorsten also donates the proceeds from sales of his book, A Solid Wheel of Colored Ribbons, and his CD, From Timber Ridge to Daymer Gardens, to his own cause, that of pediatric cancer research (to view additional photos taken at Thorsten's own events, please visit the A Solid Wheel of Colored Ribbons and From Timber Ridge to Daymer Gardens booksigning sections.)  

The most recent (2011) recipient of his sales proceeds is the organization The UMMS Foundation's Isper and Manos Fund for Pediatric Oncology
