When Thorsten Kaye (ex-Patrick) left ONE LIFE TO LIVE in August of 1997, fans were crushed. Kaye’s brainy, brawny, poetry-spewing hero had hit a nerve with romance-starved women everywhere…and he was phenomenally beloved by fans of all ages.
At the time of his departure, Kaye was less than thrilled with living in New York City, and Patrick’s story had all but vanished. Frustrated, Kaye decided to leave.
He moved to L.A., and quickly found work on shows like SLIDERS, AIR AMERICA, and FALCONE.
In the interim, he also co-authored a book of original poetry called “From Timber Ridge to Daymer Gardens,” which has an accompanying CD of the same name.
However, when the role of Dr. Ian Thornhart (Patrick’s
brother) on PORT
CHARLES was offered to him, he took it. For one thing, he
wouldn’t
have to leave L.A.; secondly, he’s hinted that Ian (who looks just like
Patrick, except his hair is shorter) might
share the same penchant for poetry as his much-missed brother.
As for Ian’s future storyline, it’ll be hard, maybe even impossible, to top the super-popular romance in the heyday of Marty and Patrick.
But you can bet that Ian won’t be spending too many nights reciting poetry in front of his lonely fireplace.
