Soaps In Depth

Ian Thornhart may seem like a lover, but since arriving in Port Charles, he’s often had to depend on his fists to get him out of a dangerous situation. And while the fight sequences may look great on screen, his portrayer, Thorsten Kaye, says they’re no walk in the park to perform.

“I wish I could tell you about all the different [martial arts] belts I have and all the trophies I won boxing in college,” says the actor wryly.  “But I don’t, and I didn’t.”

In fact, Kaye’s quick to acknowledge that Ian’s punching prowess has less to do with him than with the folks behind the scenes.

“My experience comes from working with some very talented stunt coordinator,” he admits. “As far as my own background goes, I was always told that if a fight lasts longer than four seconds, someone didn’t want it bad enough!”
