While every character in Pine Valley holds a special place in our hearts, we couldn't help but feel that ALL MY CHILDREN was a lonely town without Thorsten Kaye's Zach. Those furrowing eyebrows, that gruff voice and his no-nonsense approach to every bit of drama that befalls the never-sleepy suburb have convinced us that every city needs a man just like him. And don't think that coming back from the dead and instantly falling into suspicious mode over Kendall and Griffin's connection have made him any less attractive. Oh no. If anything, his inquisitive attitude toward his wife's activities during the year he was "deceased" only made us love him all the more!
Heart To Heart
Having been rushed to the hospital emergency room, Zach
narrowly escaped dying for the second time and shared a moving reunion
with his wife and kids. But admidst the joy, it became clear that
something was rubbing the newly returned character the wrong way. He
waited for his Fusionista to leave and then summoned Greenlee to his
room. "Kendall and Griffin, are they having a relationship?" he asked.
And then, unsatisfied with her answer -- which was that the two had
become close, but that it was complicated -- he tfilled in the blanks
himself. "You said it yourself: My death broke Kendall's
heart," he said matter-of-factly. "The good doctor came and
put it back together again."
Like It Is
In his typical fashion, Zach kept his observations under wraps
around Kendall, playing the part of confident, loving husband to a T.
But mere minutes after assuring his wife that they could get through
anything, he confronted Griffin, who had the awkward task of acting as
the former casino owner's doctor. "What's going on between you and any
wife? he asked in a cool, forthright tone. "You saved Kendall's life;
it must have been intense." Believing there was more to Griffin's
answer, which was that he'd been in rought medical scenes before, Zach
pressed on. "Do you love her?" he asked. "I'm trying to get some
answers." Sensing Zach's seriousness, Griffin retorted that now that he
was back, whatever he felt for Kendall was irrelevant. And while that
may be the case, the perturbed look on Zach's face as Griff left the
room made it clear it was anything but impertinent to him!
Only time will tell whether or not Zach can get past his
wife's connection to the doc, but there was one thing that was
abundantly clear from the beginning: AMC just isn't the same without
the straightforward attitude Kaye brings to his character, and we're
more than thrilled to have the talented actor back on screen.
