Any daytime dreamboat can arrange a candlelit dinner and show up at a date's door bearing flowers. But to stand out, a guy's gotta be different.

Enter Patrick Thornhart -- soulful Irishman par excellence. Determined to stop the love of his life (Marty) from making the mistake of her life (marrying Dylan), he jumped on a horse, raced to the church and declared his love. (Okay, she wed Dylan anyway, but that's not the point.)

Part tender dreamer, part rugged realist, Patrick is sensitive, but never sappy. Do you remember what he and Marty did when they were locked together in the library overnight? They recited poetry, and it was more sensual than any midnight tryst.

What saves Patrick from being too good to be true is his willingness to poke fun at himself. With a twinkle in his eye, he recently turned to Marty and admitted, "I feel hopeful. That can't be good for my poetic soul."
