ONE LIFE TO LIVE'S Thorsten Kaye (Patrick) plays a brooding Irishman with a passion for poetry (and Marty Saybrooke). But just how different is his off-screen persona? 

"My character is not very far removed from who I am," says Kaye, who was born and raised in London, England. "I studied theater and literature, and have always enjoyed poetry." 

The actor first came to the United States in 1985 - on a track scholarship, believe it or not. Originally a physical education major at the International University in San Diego, a serious motorcycle accident forced him to choose another direction: drama, which had always been an interest. He went on to earn a master's degree in theater from Wayne State University in Detroit. 

Kaye originated the role of Patrick Thornhart in October 1995, and admits that playing Patrick has been a much more personal experience than his previous theater background, including the roles of Macbeth and Marc Antony.
